You can make a workers compensation claim without using a workers compensation lawyer. However, every workers compensation claim is different, and it can be hard to know if you’re getting everything you’re entitled to. It’s also common for insurers to deny part or all of a compensation claim. Our workers compensation lawyers can review your claim and make sure you receive your full entitlements. If you find yourself in a dispute with an insurer, having a lawyer on your side will give you a much better chance of success.
We’ll provide you with free advice, and if you decide to proceed with your claim the workers compensation insurer is responsible for paying your legal costs at the end of your case.
If we find that you’re entitled to Permanent Impairment or Work Injury Damages lump sum payments, we’ll work on a no win no fee, no disbursements basis, so you’ll only need to pay our fees if we win, and you receive your lump sum compensation.

If your workers compensation claim is denied, there are options open to you to dispute the decision. The insurer that has denied your claim must notify you in writing of their reasons for the denial and provide information on the next steps available to you.
Here are some examples of common disputes:
The insurer doesn’t consider the person making the claim to be a ‘worker’ (under the legislation).
The insurer considers that employment wasn’t the main contributing factor to the injury.
It wasn’t ‘reasonably necessary’ to have the medical treatment or to incur other expenses claimed.
The insurer has blamed your mental health condition on your transfer, demotion, promotion, performance appraisal, discipline, retrenchment or dismissal or provision of employment benefits.
The insurer is of the view that your employer’s actions were reasonable.
On 1 March 2021, the Personal Injury Commission (PIC) became the central body for resolving all workers compensation disputes.
If you have a dispute with an insurer, here are some options:
Request an internal review by the insurer, who must respond within 14 days.
Lodge a dispute directly with the PIC.
Contact us on 0292644474 and ask for free legal advice – it may be possible to get legal representation at no cost to you.
Workers compensation claims in NSW should be made within six months of becoming aware of your injury. However, there are exceptions where you can exceed this time limit. For example:
A claim can be made up to three years after the injury in some situations (e.g. if you’ve been travelling or you make an honest mistake).
If a claim relates to serious and permanent impairment, the claim may still be made after three years, if there’s a reasonable cause for the delay.
If a period greater than three years has passed since the accident then a claim may still be made with SIRA approval.
There are also special arrangements if you become aware of an injury a long time after it happened. In these cases, the time limit for workers compensation claims starts from the time you become aware of your injury and the reasons for it.

Many lawyers have the technical ability to run a successful case but being able to connect with your client through a personal approach is what separates the great lawyers from the good lawyers. And it’s this combination that my team and I bring to every case.
Without doubt, communication is the key to law, particularly when dealing with clients who are in stressful situations. It’s not just about giving good advice but equally, giving that advice in a way that is clear and easy to comprehend.
I firmly believe that honesty with great client care, is the best recipe for achieving the optimal outcome in every claim. And this is what I strive to achieve for every client.
My professional approach revolves around client transparency – ensuring clients are informed and always feel comfortable enough to be able to ask any questions or express any concerns. This for me, is a healthy client/solicitor relationship.
I strive to always deliver a level of client care that I’d want for my family if they needed compensation. And it starts with communication and using plain language that’s easy for my clients to understand.
I do everything possible to simplify the complexity of a claim. I have always believed in giving my clients hope through strong legal advice and ensuring they understand their own rights and entitlements.
I live by the mantra that nothing great comes without hard work. And this is so true when it comes to personal injury law, as no great outcome can be achieved without putting in the work and building the best possible case.
The legal system can often seem intimidating and overwhelming. However, I believe that the law should be accessible and understandable to everyone, regardless of their background or level of legal knowledge. As a solicitor, I believe that it is my duty to bridge this gap by simplifying legal jargon into simple concepts that can be easily understood by my clients.
I strive to ensure that I foster a personal relationship with my clients, and that in every step of the claim, each client understands exactly what is going on and the options which are available to them.
If you truly empathise with your clients and understand what a successful outcome would mean to them, you’ll naturally be driven to succeed. Every client deserves a Solicitor who possesses this natural drive.
Caring for our clients drives everything we do – that’s why thousands of Australians choose Law Partners every year.

I had an amazing experience with Shabana at Law Partners. From the very beginning, her attention to detail, communication, and overall commitment to my claim really stood out. She took the time to explain everything clearly, always followed up, and made sure I understood every step of the process. You could tell she genuinely cared about getting me the best result and went above and beyond to make that happen. George and Claudia were also fantastic. They were organised, friendly, and always quick to get back to me whenever I needed something. Together they made a stressful process so much easier. I’m really grateful for the effort and professionalism this team showed. If you get the chance to work with Shabana, you’ll be in very good hands.
