What dust diseases can I claim for in NSW?

No matter how you’ve been injured, we’re here to help you claim your full compensation entitlements.

Asbestosis.

Prolonged exposure to asbestos fibres can cause lung tissue scarring and shortness of breath. Symptoms can range from mild to severe and generally appear many years after initial exposure.

Silicosis.

Silica is a substance naturally found in certain types of stone, rock, sand and clay. Silicosis is a lung disease caused by inhaling large amounts of crystalline silica dust, usually over many years working with these materials.

Mesothelioma.

Mesothelioma is a type of cancer that develops in the lining that covers the outer surface of some of the body’s organs. It’s usually linked to asbestos exposure. Even brief exposure to asbestos can lead to Mesothelioma.

Pneumoconiosis and Black Lung Disease.

Pneumoconiosis refers to a group of lung diseases caused by dust in the lungs. With coal workers it’s commonly known as “black lung disease”, and is caused by inhaling coal dust over long periods of time.

Frequently asked questions.

Since exposure to hazards like asbestos generally occurs long before related diseases develop, it might seem hard to pinpoint exactly where and when you were exposed.

But we can help. Our specialist NSW dust disease and asbestos lawyers will work with you to identify any potential exposure, including:

  • Living in close proximity to industrial sites
  • Work-related exposure to asbestos, silica or other dusts
  • Being in a home that contained asbestos during renovations
  • Working with asbestos, or being around someone who was working with asbestos

Your NSW Law Partners legal team will investigate and thoroughly document all the required evidence on your behalf.

Asbestos-related diseases can take many years to develop. No matter how long ago you were exposed to asbestos, you may still have a valid claim for compensation, and compensation amounts can be significant. There’s no cost to speak to one of our asbestos lawyers and discuss your situation.

Yes, there have been many cases of successful compensation claims for asbestos-related illnesses such as mesothelioma on behalf of people who have lived with someone who worked with asbestos. Asbestos fibres can be brought into the home on clothing, skin and in hair, leaving family members exposed. If you believe you’ve been exposed to asbestos in this way, you may have a valid claim.

No win no fee lawyers offer to run your case for you and only get paid when you win. If you choose the right lawyer, it’s an excellent option that allows you to pursue your claim without any risk, but it’s important to check the lawyer’s costs agreement to fully understand what’s covered. With some no win no fee lawyers you can still end up having to pay thousands of dollars in disbursements if your case is unsuccessful. This is because their no win no fee agreements cover their professional fees but not the costs they incur. At Law Partners, our no win no fee, no disbursements guarantee covers all our costs and disbursements as well as our professional fees, so you can pursue your claim with peace of mind.

Most amazing and professional team. Gillian Potts, Veronica, Rachel & Anissa were extremely supportive and very to the point in our case for CTP Claim. Highly recommended – Thanks Shyam & Foram.

My husband has been going through a grueling workers compensation claim and the one saving grace throughout this horrible process has been the wonderful support from Haider and his team at Law Partners. They are quick to respond to any and every inquiry or concern we have, and have stood up to the insurer multiple times on our behalf, with very favourable results. When the government announced its intention to introduce reforms to the Workers Compensation Act earlier this year, Haider was very quick to call us personally and inform us of how we may be affected if the reforms went through, and began expediting our claim as much as he could to ensure we had the best possible outcome. This level of care (which I’m sure he provided to all of his clients) went above and beyond expectations and as a result it looks as though we’ll be able to finish this process earlier than previously expected, which is a huge relief. I don’t know where my family and I would be without the wonderful legal support we have received, and I can’t thank Haider and his team enough.

I am so very thankful and appreciative of Mimi and Yasmine for their professional help with my claim. They made the process easy and took the pressure off me and my family. All of the members of the legal team and reception staff I have had the pleasure to liaise with have always been friendly, informative and they have always taken the time to explain the process. I highly recommended Law Partners.

I would highly recommend Law Partners to assist anyone with their compensation claim, I was represented by Ben Cortese and one of the paralegals, Allisa.

I was beyond happy with Ben and Allisa’s amazing professionalism and dedication in achieving the best possible outcome for my case, as I was involved in a serious car accident which left me with a broken nose and emotional trauma, they were there to guide me at every step of the way and supported me throughout the whole process, an absolutely amazing team.

I have spent the last 3 days trying to find someone to help me during the most difficult & stressful time of my life. No one would help as they said it was too hard or too far along in the case to pick it up! Sophie was kind, genuine, honest & informative. She gave me generous time & ensured I would receive the best possible outcome. Thank you.
