The best thing about being a personal injury lawyer is the chance to witness first-hand the sheer courage displayed by clients to want to reclaim their lives, despite all the hardship – it’s what inspires me to go above and beyond for them.
I’ve always been an empathetic person by nature, and I identified quite early on in my life that I wanted to become a lawyer because of my strong desire to help people. I chose to work in personal injury law because I felt as though it was an area of law I could make the most difference in and be able to right a lot of wrongs.
The legal process can be daunting at the best of times, let alone when you’re injured and at your most vulnerable. So, I always ensure the client is comfortable by taking the time to explain legal concepts in simple and plain language and I always make myself available to answer any questions they may have.
Career highlight:
The highlight would be my role in changing the common law in the Northern territory in relation to workers compensation permanent impairment. It’s something I’ll never forget.
In my own time:
Away from work, I enjoy Yoga and outdoor adventures. I’ve trekked to Everest Base Camp and I’ve cycled through Vietnam.
