Here are three ways our bicycle accident lawyers can get more compensation for you:
If you’ve been knocked off your bike in a hit and run accident in Victoria, where the driver failed to stop and can’t be traced, you may still be able to make a claim for bike accident compensation. The TAC scheme still allows you to apply for compensation when the driver can’t be identified, however you’re required to provide as many details as possible.
The Victorian TAC scheme covers injuries only and doesn’t cover property damage. To claim for damage to your bike, unless you have bike insurance or it’s covered by your home contents insurance, you’ll need to claim directly from the at-fault driver. The first step is to get a quote for the repair or replacement of your bike, then send a letter of demand to the at-fault driver.
If the at-fault driver refuses to pay, you can make a claim against them in the local court. Most cases involving damage to bikes will be handled by the small claims division of your local court.
Your bicycle accident lawyer is backed by a team of specialists including paralegals, medico-legal experts, forensic accountants and barristers. Your team will work hard for you, check in with you regularly and always keep you up to date with your case. You’re in safe hands with Australia’s largest specialist personal injury firm.
