A specialist lawyer will review your circumstances and tell you how much you can claim.

What can I claim?

There are two ways you can claim compensation:

The National Redress Scheme – helps people who have experienced institutional child sexual abuse gain access to counselling, a direct personal response, and a redress payment of up to $150,000.

A damages claim – is a claim for the impact the abuse has had on your life, to cover past and future lost earnings, pain and suffering, and treatment costs. Payments are not capped at $150,000 and can be much higher.

Common claims include:

  • Child abuse
  • Institutional abuse
  • Foster system abuse
  • Historical sex abuse
  • Church-related abuse
  • School-related abuse

Most of our clients have suffered a sudden injury, so what they don’t need from their legal representative is more nasty surprises. This is why I’m always upfront and honest with all my clients, so they know exactly what to expect during the compensation process.

Here’s what they say about us.

Greetings, I’m Usman. In 2019, I experienced an accident while under workers comp. Over the span of four years, Mimi, Caitlin, and Yasmine from the Law Partners team provided invaluable assistance in navigating my dealings with Icare. Their support led to an exceptional experience, securing all necessary approvals, including surgeries. Subsequently, Minaa, Vicky, and Sakeena from CTP facilitated an outstanding outcome with my claim, displaying consistently prompt responses and diligent pursuit of every matter. Overall, I couldn’t recommend a better company. Learn from my experience: before initiating any claim or filling out any form, consult with Law Partners. This is where I made mistakes by downplaying my injuries.

I had the pleasure of working with Rhiannon Templeton when she represented me for a work cover compensation claim. Her level of knowledge and professionalism were both outstanding. She was extremely supportive throughout the whole process and made me feel very comfortable and completely in the loop through each stage. The outcome was beyond my expectations and I would highly recommend seeking her legal advice for any work cover related advice or representation.

From my very first meeting with Natalie I felt comfortable, supported and heard. This was very important to me after what I had been through. Natalie spoke in terms that were easy for me to understand.
The whole process was smooth and made easier for me knowing I had Natalie’s support. I was pleased with outcome.
Thank you to Natalie and her team for making this episode in my life easier to navigate than I had thought it would be.
Julie.

I moved from another firm to Law Partners and right from the start it was a totally different experience. My solicitor Sarah King and her paralegal Cassandra Hughes were empathetic, encouraging and highly attentive.
I received regular updates, they sought to clarify issues as they arose,
They prepared for each new step and checked in with me after each new event in the process.
They turned a scary experience into an ok experience with a positive outcome.
I cannot recommend them enough.
Thank you thank you.

Frequently asked questions.

Applications for the National Redress Scheme close on 30 June 2027. There’s no time limit for making a damages claim for institutional abuse. You can still make a damages claim after the redress scheme closes, but only if you haven’t accepted a redress scheme payment.

Evidence for your claim may include your medical records, employment records and government records, as well as witness statements from people like classmates, family and friends. But you don’t need to worry about what evidence you have – your lawyer will guide you through the process and gather the evidence for you.

Institutional abuse claims typically take around 18 months to settle but can take longer if it’s hard to track down records or witnesses. You can rest assured that we’ll be thorough, but also work as quickly as possible to settle your claim.
