Meet the team behind our dedicated medical negligence practice.
When something goes wrong in healthcare, the consequences can be life-changing.
Medical negligence claims are often among the most complex personal injury matters a person can face. They involve detailed medical evidence, expert opinions, complex legal issues, and a thorough understanding of how healthcare systems operate.
This is the reason deep expertise and experience matters so much.

At Law Partners, we’ve built a large and dedicated NSW medical negligence team, with 10 lawyers practising exclusively in medical negligence law. Our team includes four Accredited Specialists, two medically qualified experts, and lawyers who have acted for both injured patients and healthcare providers throughout their careers.
Leading the team is Elizabeth Utting, Practice Group Leader and Accredited Specialist in Personal Injury Law.
“Medical negligence claims require a unique combination of legal expertise, medical understanding and strategic thinking,” Elizabeth says.
“Having a large, experienced team means we’re able to draw on decades of collective knowledge to help our clients understand what happened, investigate their options, and pursue all the compensation they may be entitled to.
“And as a group, we’re passionate about excellent client care, leading with transparency, empathy and understanding as we support our clients throughout the life of their claim.”
Why specialist experience matters.
Medical negligence claims are rarely straightforward.
Success often depends on identifying what went wrong, understanding complex medical records, engaging the right independent experts, and building a strong case supported by strong evidence.
Our team’s depth of experience helps us:
- Understand complex medical issues and treatment pathways
- Identify the most appropriate independent experts
- Develop effective legal strategies
- Navigate complicated healthcare systems
- Efficiently manage large volumes of medical evidence
- Pursue every available avenue to maximise a client’s entitlements
Several members of our team have also represented defendants earlier in their careers, providing valuable insight into how hospitals, insurers and healthcare providers approach medical negligence claims.
