Law Partners welcomes Catherine Henry Lawyers to the team.

We’re proud to share some great news about the next chapter for Law Partners, and for clients across Newcastle, the Hunter region and beyond.

From 27 January 2026, Catherine Henry Lawyers (CHL), a highly respected Newcastle-based firm, will officially join Law Partners. It’s a meaningful step for both teams, built on shared values, deep expertise, and a genuine commitment to standing up for people in our communities when they need it most.

A strong local legacy, now part of our Law Partners team.

Founded in 2009, Catherine Henry Lawyers has earned an outstanding reputation, particularly for its work in medical negligence and institutional abuse matters. Over many years, the team has helped clients navigate some of the most complex and emotionally difficult legal issues, with care, determination and a sharp focus on outcomes.

By welcoming CHL into Law Partners, we’re strengthening our local presence in Newcastle and the Hunter region, while also expanding the depth of specialist expertise available to our clients more broadly. It’s very much about investing locally, and doing so in a way that benefits people wherever they’re seeking help.

What this means for our clients:

For clients of both firms, the most important thing to know is that it’s business as usual, but with even more support behind the scenes.

Clients of Catherine Henry Lawyers will continue to be looked after by the same trusted people who know their matters, supported by the broader resources and systems of Law Partners. Claims will continue without interruption, and maintaining high standards of service and care is a priority throughout the transition.

For Law Partners clients, the addition of the CHL team further strengthens our medical negligence capability, bringing together two groups of experienced lawyers who regularly deal with complex, high-stakes cases involving life-changing injuries and outcomes.

A specialist lawyer will review your circumstances and tell you how much you can claim.

Together with shared values and shared purpose.

This coming together is about an alignment around what matters most to us, as much as it is about our growth. Both of our firms are known for taking the time to truly understand each client’s situation, asking the right questions, and approaching each matter with excellent client care, attention, and relentless determination. That shared mindset – putting people first and pursuing outcomes with deep expertise and attention to detail – made this a natural fit.

As Shane Butcher, Partner at Law Partners, explains, “With this acquisition, our team is both growing and strengthening our ability to passionately support our clients and their families. Catherine Henry Lawyers has built an exceptional reputation over many years, particularly in medical negligence. Bringing our teams together reinforces our ability to help clients through what can be very complex claims, while also reinforcing our commitment to the Newcastle and Hunter communities.”

Continuing leadership our clients can trust.

Catherine Henry will continue with Law Partners in a senior leadership role, leading her existing team as part of our health law and medical negligence group.

Her ongoing involvement was a key part of the decision and an important reassurance for clients and staff alike. Catherine brings deep expertise, strong leadership and a long-standing commitment to advocacy that aligns closely with how we work at Law Partners.

Reflecting on the move, Catherine said, “Law Partners shares our long-term dedication to compassionate, high-quality legal representation. Joining our teams means our clients continue to be supported by people they trust, while benefiting from greater resources and shared expertise. It also creates a strong future for our staff and for the communities we serve across Newcastle, the Hunter region and the NSW East Coast.”

Growing at the right pace with the right people.

At Law Partners, we’re thoughtful about how and why we grow. In other words, we’re not about expanding our firm for the sake of it. We look for teams who share our values, our approach to client care, and our belief that good legal work starts with genuine and shared human connection.

This step reflects our continued investment in specialist personal injury law and in improving access to high-quality legal support, particularly in regional communities. By bringing together two respected teams with deep experience in medical negligence, we’re better placed to support people facing some of the toughest moments of their lives.

Most importantly, this change allows us to keep doing what matters most: listening carefully to our clients, getting to know them personally, working thoroughly, lightening the load, and helping clients move forward with confidence.

We’re excited about what lies ahead, and we’re very proud to welcome Catherine Henry Lawyers, and their clients, to the Law Partners family.
